Themes & Workshops

Making learning fun is what a Delphi Summer is all about! Themes and workshops cover science, art and physical training appropriate for each age level. Field trips, art projects and special activities relate to the themes covered in the classroom. Workshops introduce new skills and lively team activities where kids can create, learn and explore with their friends.

Beginners (Our Youngest Students age 4-5)

All About Animals is our summer theme. We’ll learn about all different kinds of animals - what they look like, where they live, what they eat and how they survive. We’ll visit the Oakland Zoo, the Seymour Marine Center and the California Academy of Science to see animals firsthand. Look forward to animal art projects and animal stories!

Soccer Camp is our exciting summer sport. We’ll learn the rules of the game, build our skills with the ball and practice our teamwork! We’ll finish off with a big game where everyone’s a winner!

Forms 1 & 2 (Younger Students age 6-8)

Science and Nature make for an exciting summer theme. On the nature side, we’ll look at marine science, ecosystems and wildlife with trips to two different aquariums, the beach, tidepools, zoo and more! We’ll also explore our land and see native wildlife when we camp in the redwood forest, and see how our food grows when we visit ranches and farms where we can pick our own berries.

Hands-on seminars in class will relate to our travels and help us understand the world around. Fun arts and crafts projects on the same theme will bring out the creative side in all of us!

Summer is a great time to learn a team sport and build skills while getting physically fit. We’re going to focus on the most popular sport in the world - soccer!

Elementary & Middle School (Older Students age 8-13)

Junior Engineering - Campers will learn to build their own crazy-action contraptions that use simple machines with cranks, gears and working parts to move and race! Group projects will include building a large amusement park with a motorized light-up ferris wheel and a 3' high speed demon roller coaster.

Animation – Each camper can create a short animation film using simple software that is easy to learn and use but gives impressive results! A computer pen-and-tablet make drawing easy and fun. Each child can write their own story or work with a friend. Campers will learn how stop-motion works and how a series of still images can trick the eye into seeing motion.

Sports Camp - Every Monday is Sports Camp and campers can look forward to a learning and playing a variety of sports this summer.  They may dribble a basketball down the court or score a goal in hockey, soccer, or flag football. Whatever the game, kids can count on fun and exercise with friends during the cooler morning hours.

...There's always more!
